Welcome

Welcome to the Foundation Stage at South Petherwin Primary School.

Hello and we welcome you to our school. Foundation Stage is where it all begins!
Our team is made up of Mrs Little (teacher), and Mrs Coltart and Mrs Turner who are our Learning Support Assistants.

Foundation stage is all about laying the foundations for lifelong learning.  We work to develop children’s skills in the Prime areas of learning, these are Personal, Social and Emotional development, Communication and Language and Physical Development. By creating a firm and well rooted base in these prime learning areas children develop into mature, well-rounded individuals who enjoy learning and are ready continue their journey throughout the school and beyond.

We hope you and your child are very happy at South Petherwin School. We love our school and hope you do too.  If you need any additional information about the Foundation Stage at South Petherwin, please feel free to contact us.

The Class 1 Team

Let’s reclaim playfulness!

Tapestry and Learning with Parents have collaborated to create some resources for parents and carers to use at home. They follow 5 broad themes: Creativity, Physicality, Story, Number, and Experiment. For each theme there is a collection of accessible activities, accompanied by a supporting resource with ideas for children from Early Years to Year 6. Play is incredibly important: it nurtures mental wellbeing, builds physical health, facilitates interactions and improves social skills.
