At South Petherwin Primary School the principal aim of RSHE is for children to develop skills, attributes and knowledge they need to keep healthy, safe and equipped for life at secondary school and beyond.
Our vision is for all pupils to flourish in the world around them. We endeavour to ensure that all pupils have a range of skills and interpersonal skills that will help them to succeed in life, as well as being positive citizens.
All pupils are equipped with skills to support and enhance a healthy lifestyle as well as having a healthy mind-set.
During Key Stages 1 and 2, learners gradually build on the skills, attitudes and values, knowledge and understanding they have started to acquire and develop during the Early Years/Foundation Stage.
South Petherwin Primary School's RSHE education offers learning opportunities and experiences which reflect the increasing independence and physical and social awareness of learners as they move through the school. They learn skills to develop effective relationships, assume greater personal responsibility and keep themselves safe. Our PSHE curriculum assists pupils to cope with the changes at puberty, introduces them to a wider world and enables them to make an active contribution to their communities and in turn, prepares them to be able to succeed in the future.
